Cupcake Carnage was born out of boredom during the COVID-19 lockdown in Los Angeles County. Not considered an essential worker, Alixx watched The Great British Baking Show and Cupcake Wars on continuous loop. But unlike many who watch cooking shows and muse “I can do that…” Alixx outfitted his small kitchen with enough equipment to max out a credit card and started baking. After too many questionable bakes he decided to learn actual recipes, jumped on YouTube, and became a Cupcake Jemma fanboy. Through a leap of faith, Alixx abandoned his doctorate and swapped the ivory tower of academia for an apron, knowing full well he will be dead long before his student loans are paid. Nonetheless, he will die making people happy, one confection at a time . . .
Daryl Antoine-Starr
Daryl started baking at a fairly early age. With no formal training Daryl muddled he way around until he developed a talent for baking the best desserts this side of the Mississippi. Never imagining he would leave the corporate world, Daryl made delicious treats for friends and family as a hobby. While on a Thanksgiving holiday Daryl observed the chaos of Alixx in his kitchen preparing to cater a wedding and mused, “You know, Alixx, if you lived in Dallas, I would totally do this with you…” Cue the moving van six months later, and close friends became even closer business partners, one confection at a time . . .
